Haverhill, MA - Mary E. (Chapman) Lynch 92 a life long resident of the “Acre” section of Haverhill died Tuesday July 1, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.
Born in Haverhill she was the daughter of the late Thomas R., and Margaret E. (Cavan) Chapman. A life long member of St. James Parish, she was a graduate of St. Gregory’s Grammar School, a member of St. James High School Class of 1933 and MacIntosh Business College.
Along with being a fulltime mother, grandmother, homemaker, and devoted wife Mrs. Lynch had a career as Office Manager for all of her husbands businesses which included H.J Lynch Oil Company, and coined operated laundry stores. Mr. Lynch founded E Z Way Cleaners in Haverhill retiring in 1978.
Mrs. Lynch enjoyed reading, crossword-puzzles, knitting, caring for her plants and days at the beach.
The widow of Herbert J. Lynch Sr. who died in 2003 she leaves three sons and their wives. Thomas C. and Karen Ludington of Shirley, Herbert J. Jr and Susan (Malynn) of North Andover; James M., and Roberta of Rocklin CA. Two daughters Mary Alana and Roland Jacques and Eileen A. Canfield all of Haverhill, cherished grandchildren: Tammy M. Lynch, Melissa A. Hoffmann, Andrea M. Mason, Eric R. Jacques, Courtney A. Lynch, Meghan E. Lynch, Alana M. Canfield, Christopher M. Canfield, and Jennifer L. Canfield. Two great grandchildren: Christian N. Hoffmann, and Michaela M. Hoffmann, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret J O’Connell.

Phoenix, AZ - Charlene (Mestugrates) Comeau, 83 formerly of Haverhill, died Saturday June 28 , 2008 from lung cancer. Charlene died with her husband of 58 years, Ed / e.j., and only daughter Melinda at her side.
Born in Devol, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Charles Nicholas Mestugrates, originally from Mytyline on the Greek island of Lesvos, and Jannie Melinda ( nee Gardner) originally of Devol , Oklahoma , relocated to Haverhill, MA and raised their two daughters Stella (deceased 1991) and Charlene there. During WW II Charlene worked at the Western Electric as a coil winder. Later she worked for the I.R.S. , and electronic assembly companies. Charlene & Ed (e.j.) relocated to Phoenix in November 1979.

Born in Haverhill, she was daughter of the late Chester and Rose (Silk) Herring, and was a life long resident. She was a graduate of the Haverhill High School Class of 1938 and worked for many years in the Haverhill City Hall Office of the City Clerk. She was a life member of St. James Church in Haverhill. Joan took pleasure in playing Bingo and cards and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. She was avid Red Sox fan and above all cherished time spent with her loving family.
The widow of the late Paul J. Sweeney, Sr., who died in 1971, she leaves a daughter Paula Dennis of Haverhill; a son, Paul J. Sweeney, Jr. and Maureen Sweeney of East Hampstead, NH; a brother Robert Herring of Westfield; a sister Dot Gauvin of Plaistow; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born in Chelsea to the late Stanley and Mary (McGauley) Skrabut, attended local schools and was a graduate of the Chelsea High School Class of 1950. Mary Rose held employment with the former New England Telephone Company as a telephone operator for many years. She had raised her family in the North Shore and resided in Haverhill for the past twelve years. Mrs. Miedico devoted her life to caring for her family and others and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty five years, Joseph R. Miedico, Sr.; three sons, Scott R. Miedico and his wife Denise of North Reading; Roger J. Miedico and his wife Sharon; and Joseph R. Miedico, Jr. and his wife Patricia, all of Windham, NH. She leaves five grandchildren, Darryl, Corbin, Justin, Aurise, and Alexis Miedico, and several nieces and nephews.

Haverhill, MA - Cathie (Gagnon) Coy, 63, died Thursday evening June 19, at her home surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, June 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Louis H. and Louise V. (Cook) Gagnon. She was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1962.
Ms. Coy was employed as an Inspector for Lucent Technologies in North Andover for over twenty-five years, retiring in 2000. A lover of nature, she enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the local wildlife in her own back yard. She was passionate about her home and her cats, and no time was better spent than the time there with her family. She loved cooking and sharing her skills that were no less than gourmet.

She leaves her beloved daughter, Rhonda L. Coy, of Sanford, Maine; her sister Eileen A. Cummings of Haverhill; and her companion of 23 years, Wayne E. Rogers also of Haverhill. She leaves 3 cherished grandchildren, Zackary L. Rivers, Joshua L. Rivers, and Noah M. Gibbs.

Haverhill-Warren F. Parker, 71, of Haverhill died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill he was the son of the late Roswell C. and Elizabeth (Powers) Parker.
A 1954 graduate of Haverhill Trade School, He enlisted into the US Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
Mr. Parker was a life Insurance underwriter for over thirty years and was employed by Boston Mutual and John Hancock Life Insurance Companies, retiring in 1996.
An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. His memberships include the American Legion, Wilbur Comeau Post 4, the Jaycees and the Liberty Club, where he served as club secretary for many years.
He leaves his beloved wife of forty-six years; Nancy J. (Jutres) Parker, three loving daughters, Valerie A., and Virginia L. all of Haverhill, Victoria A., of Hampton Beach New Hampshire, a grandson, Brian G. Berry, a granddaughter, Taylor S. Parker, a brother Richard C. and his Wife Geraldine, of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Michael V. Berry a brother, Roswell C. Parker Jr. and a sister, Elizabeth Sarrasin.

Haverhill, MA - George C. Ottaviani, 66, of Haverhill, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday June 12.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Sarah (Sinclair) Ottaviani. He attended Haverhill public schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1960, where he excelled in baseball, football, and hockey.
Mr.Ottaviani was a painter by trade, working for the Boland Paint Company in Bradford for over twenty years. He then was employed at the Northeastern Tool Co. in Ward Hill. Known by the children in his neighborhood as Uncle George he was a fixture there, well loved by all who met him. He would hold weekly yard sales mostly for the enjoyment of talking with the curious shopper and mingling with the neighbors. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan, especially local sports. He served as the Haverhill High School football team Statistician for thirteen years.
He leaves his wife of forty-two years, Barbara A. (Eldredge) Ottaviani, brothers and sisters in law, R. John and Mary Ellen Ottaviani, and Steven A. and Dianna Ottaviani, an aunt, Edith Robinson, all of Haverhill, nieces and nephews, Mary Suzanne Ottaviani, Ann and Kevin McKeown, John R. and Cynthia Ottaviani, Kathleen E. Ottaviani, Cara L. Ottaviani, and Angela and Ronald Page, grand nephews, Jake and Nicholas Ottaviani and Brady McKeown.

Born, raised and educated in Sorel, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Florida (Latour) Valois. She moved to the United States in 1961 and lived in Newburyport, Beverly, and Salem, before settling in Haverhill fifteen years ago.
Mrs. Plourde was employed as a nurse’s aid in various nursing homes throughout the north shore for many years, retiring in 1996. She leaves a son, Jonathan Plourde, of Boston, a daughter, Natalie Murphy, of Westfield, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born with a natural musical talent. Self taught, she played the guitar and organ, and was gifted with a beautiful voice. She was a member of the Comedy Masque Review, where she showcased her talents for many years. Her finest talent however, was that as a homemaker for her beloved husband of almost sixty years.
She leaves her husband, Albert Jodoin, of Haverhill, three brothers, Mahlon A. Collins and his wife, Lois, of Huntsville, AL, Leonard E. Collins and his wife, Pauline, of Lakeland, FL, and Martin R. Collins, of Haverhill, a sister Avis J. “Dolly” Ragust, of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mildred A. Emerson in 2002.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Harold J. and Mary (Lane) Burke and lived here all of her life. She attended Haverhill public schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill High School Class of 1951. Mrs. Esmeal’s life was one that was devoted to the care and teaching of children, whether it be her own two sons, her grandchildren, the neighborhood children, or the many thousands of students she touched as a Teacher at Ann Crane’s Kindergarten, or Pine Knoll Kindergarten. She worked at Ann Crane Kindergarten for over thirty years and later would work the afternoon sessions at Pine Knoll Kindergarten for ten years.
Known to have a strong presence in her neighborhood she was described as being a professional mother. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially if it was a day at the beach.
The widow of the late Richard A. Esmeal who died in 1985, she leaves her sons, David C. Esmeal and his companion, Tammy Cruz and Daniel R. Esmeal and his wife Tracy (Janczak) all of Haverhill, cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, Sydney, Alexandra, Max Esmeal, and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Mildred (George) McCormick and lived here all of her life. She attended Haverhill public schools and Haverhill High School. Mrs. Brouillard was employed as a layout operator for the former Western Electric in North Andover.
She left Western Electric in the early 1980’s to raise her family along with twelve hundred foster children throughout the next fifteen years. In 2000 she was awarded a citation by then Governor Argeo Paul Cellucci for her service, dedication, and self sacrifice for being an outstanding foster mother in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help other families in need.
She leaves three daughters, Lorrie A. West and her partner Richard Beaudoin, of Haverhill, Debra Deneumoustier, and her partner Ted Spear, of Seabrook, NH, and Tammy Cruz, of Haverhill, a sister and brother in law, Mary and Jean Melanson, of Seabrook, nine grandchildren, Christie, Christopher, and Catrina Grandmaison, John Stachulski, Malo and Tiffany Cruz, Adriana Alamilla, and Ashley and Scott Simmons, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Brian S. Simmons.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Alma (Liberty) Levasseur and lived in Haverhill all of her life. She attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1942. Mrs. Sullivan was employed by various shoe manufacturers in the city. She left the shoe industry for the most rewarding job of her life, that of a homemaker and mother. Raising her family, she had become closely involved with Sacred Heart School and Parish, always giving of herself and her time. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, sewing, ceramics, woodworking, and furniture restoration. Her memberships included the V.F.W. Lorraine Post 29 Ladies Auxiliary and Sacred Hearts Parish.
The widow of the late John T. Sullivan, who died in 1985, she leaves her beloved children, a son, Attorney Thomas J. Sullivan and his partner Jonathan Baron, of Haverhill, two daughters, Sheila S. Hamilton and her husband Arthur, of Salem, NH, Maureen A. Bly and her husband, Timothy of Haverhill, daughter-in-law, Karen M. Sullivan, two sisters, Mrs. Jeanne Duggan and her husband John, of Bradford, and Mrs. Barbara Goff, of Mission, TX, brother in law, Robert D. Sullivan and his wife, Celia, of Haverhill, and sister-in-law, Lillian Levasseur, of Bradford. She also cherished her grandchildren, Kathryn E., Jessica L., John S. and Elizabeth A. Hamilton, Patrick M. Bly and his wife Kristin, Daniel S. Bly, Julie L. and Ellen M. Sullivan. She also leaves a close friend and caregiver, Jean Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ann F. (Beneski) Cikacz, 89 of St. Petersburg Florida died Friday, March 14, 2008 at Bay Front Medical Center.
Born in Lawrence Massachusetts, she moved to St. Petersburg in 1983 from Salem NH. She graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence Massachusetts. She worked at the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company and Jordan Marsh Company.
Her husband Walter J. Cikacz 85 also of St. Petersburg who died July 4, 2005 preceded her in death. He attended Lawrence High School in Lawrence Massachusetts. During World War II, he was a chief petty officer in the Navy, owned and operated Walt's Sunoco in Lawrence, Mass., and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the DAV in Salem, N.H.; they were both volunteer at the Sunshine Center, members of Holy Family Catholic Church and avid bowlers. They were preceded in death by a son Walter J. Cikacz Jr. Survivors include a son Michael A. Cikacz and his wife Christine and a granddaughter Molly A Cikacz, all of Chester NH.

Charles E. Parascondola Sr, 75, of Haverhill, formerly of Lynn, died Friday, April 18 at the Oxford Nursing Home in Haverhill after a brief illness.
Born and educated in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edward and Doris (Howard) Parascondola and lived there most of his life until moving to Haverhill fifteen years ago. Mr. Parascondola was employed by the city of Lynn working in the department of public works for over thirty years retiring in 1995.
He was a devoted family man and cherished his time spent with them. Known for a great sense of humor and laid back demeanor, he enjoyed taking long country drives with his late wife Shirley traveling throughout New England. The widower of Shirley L. (Butler) Parascondola, who died this past October, he leaves three sons and daughters in law, Charles E., Jr. and M. Lee Parascondola, Donald E. Parascondola, all of Haverhill, Raymond and Evelyn Butler, of Dover, NH, Donna M. Vangelist, of Lynn, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was born, raised and educated in Kansas City, Missouri and earned her Masters degree in Theology at Harvard. Never one to stay in one place, she lived a life of learning and traveling throughout the country, settling in Salisbury over fifteen years ago.
A bright and gifted woman of many talents, she worked as an administrator, a consultant, accountant, screen writer, teacher, and Minister. Just prior to her illness, she was a pastor in the United Methodist Church serving in Athol and Orange Massachusetts.
She leaves her husband of twenty-eight years, Zig Sermuksnis, children, Glenn Hardcastle, Antonis, Nicholas, and Savanah Sermuksnis, all of Salisbury, Eric Hardcastle and his wife April, of Morrisville, North Carolina, Sarah and Mychel Kendall, of Fall River, and Brandoline Burnham and her husband Derrick, of Gloucester, and one grandchild, Haley Hardcastle.

Haverhill-Marie E. (Gaudet) Eskel, 94, of Haverhill, formerly of Lawrence, died Wednesday April 9 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, she was the daughter of the late, Beloni and Catherine (Gaudet) Gaudet. At a young age her family relocated to Lawrence where she attended Lawrence public schools and St. Mary’s High School. Mrs. Eskel was employed at Arlington mills in Lawrence before her many years spent at Western Electric in North Andover, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and All Saints Parish. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and the occasional friendly card game with her neighbors at Hadley West.
The widow of William Eskel, she leaves two daughters, Patricia M. (Evans) and her husband Louis Fogel, of Haverhill, Diane M. (Evans) and her husband John A. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Norman H. and Helen L. (Tyning) Berry and lived here all of her life. She attended Haverhill public schools and was a 1945 Graduate of Haverhill High School. Deciding on a career in cosmetology, she furthered her education at the Fazio Beauty Academy in Lawrence. Upon completion of her training she went on to teach her trade at the academy for over twenty years. She owned and operated a salon in her home while raising her two young boys.
Mrs. Spaulding was widowed at a young age as her husband, Ernest C. Spaulding, died on duty while serving in the Navy on a ship off of Greenland Coast in 1960. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran. She was a devoted mother and later, a loving grandmother, committed to raising, supporting, and taking care of her beloved family. She enjoyed crafts, especially crochet, she was a member of the “crafty ladies”. She leaves two sons and daughters in law, Jeffrey C. and Kimberley M. Spaulding, and Gregory P. and Patricia A. Spaulding, all of Haverhill, two cherished grandchildren, Gregory P. II, and Angela M. Spaulding, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Norma Bracci.

Joseph F. McCarthy, 82, of Malden and recently of Tewksbury, died Saturday, March 29 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
Born in Medford, December 8, 1925 he was the son of the late Jeremiah J. and Catherine (Hutchinson) McCarthy. He attended Medford public schools and was a graduate of Medford Trade School, class of 1944. Upon graduation Joe went on to proudly serve his country in the Navy during WWII for which he was awarded the WWII Victory, American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, and Philippine Liberation Medals.
After the war he met his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Mary (Norris) of Charlestown. His forty year career as an electrician was spent with various railroads including Boston & Maine and Conrail, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. A devoted family man, he and his wife raised their beautiful family of four, settling in Malden where they lived until moving to Tewksbury this past year.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach with friends and spoiling their grandchildren. He leaves his wife, Mary T. (Norris) McCarthy, of Tewksbury, four children and their spouses, Kathleen M. and Robert F. Boland, of Marston Mills, Eileen M. and Richard F. Shuman, of Brattleboro, VT, William J. and Cynthia K. McCarthy, of York, ME, and Michael J. and Peggy A. She was born and raised in the “Acre “section of Haverhill, daughter of the late, William C. and Helen G. (Mulvaney) Carney. A lifelong member of St. James Church, she was a Graduate of St. James Grammar School and St. James High School. She resided in Atkinson NH for twenty years before relocating to Groveland this past December. Mrs. Kimball was employed as an office manager for John Hancock Insurance Co. located in Haverhill for forty-one years, retiring in 1993.
Always giving of herself and supporter of the Arts, she volunteered time at the former Hale Hospital, she was involved with the Northeast Cultural Arts Center, and enjoyed traveling the world with her beloved husband Edward, learning about different cultures and sharing her experiences with schoolchildren. She was a talented artist, painter and sculptor.
She leaves her husband of thirty-five years, Edward W. Greenwood, attended local schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School.
Lorraine retired after a life long career with the City of Haverhill, serving
as secretary to the Haverhill Police Department, various offices of City
Hall, and ultimately from the Council on Aging.
She thoroughly enjoyed boating for many years with her husband and family
and took great pleasure in summers at the beach. She will be most fondly
remembered as a beloved wife, loving mother, and cherished memere.

Danville, NH- Howard V. Bussiere Jr., 82, a longtime resident of Danville, formerly of Atkinson and Haverhill, died Thursday, March 13, at the Exeter Hospital.
He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, the son of the late, Howard V. Sr. and Marguerite E. (Hetzel) Bussiere. An Army Veteran of WWII he served with the Company B 506th Parachute Infantry 101st division, (AKA Easy Company-Band of Brothers) .He survived campaigns which included the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge, Operation Market Garden, and assisted in the capture of Berchtesgaden. His decorations and citations include good conduct medal, victory medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Distinguished Unit Badge.
Upon his return from the war, he met and married his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, the late Rose (DeFazio) Bussiere, who died in July 2007. He was employed as a mechanic for United Shoe Machinery Co. in Haverhill repairing machinery in various manufacturing facilities throughout New England.
He was a man of many interests, he owned and trained horses for sulky racing at Rockingham Park, he built and flew remote control model airplanes and most of all enjoyed his time traveling with his wife in their mobile home across country to Texas and Florida.
He leaves brothers, Eugene Bussiere, of Salisbury, Frank E. Bussiere and his wife Janet, of Victorville, CA, Nieces and nephews, Haydon Phelps, Scott Davis, Trend Melbye, Marjorie Bussiere, Christine Bussiere, Robert Lambert, Joyce Toye, Francis Defazio, and Anna and Richard Dennehy. He was predeceased by sisters, Millicent Fernald, Muriel Melbye, Dorothy Davis, and nephew, Kirk Bussiere. At the request of Mr. Bussiere, there are no calling hours.

Born in Haverhill, April 2,1905, she was the daughter of the late Haber and Mary (McCormack) McKenna. Mrs. Barrett attended St. James Grammar School and was raised in the “Acre”.
She is the last member of the McKenna family who came to Haverhill in 1852. Gertrude loved life and lived it to the fullest, always interested in her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to the Bob Raleigh and Steve LeVeille shows in the early hours of the morning. When a topic sparked her interest she would call in and was known as “Gertrude of New Hampshire” Many will remember her humorous stories.
The wife of the late Willow Palardy and the late Warren Barrett, she is survived by a daughter, Sister Mary Palardy, SC, Halifax, N.S, nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren several nieces, nephews, and stepsons, Chuck, Howard, and Warren Barrett, of N.H. Always ready to give of herself, she enjoyed getting involved with church and community activities. She was employed by the City of Haverhill at the former Hale Hospital, where she spent sixteen years in the business office and patient relations, retiring in 1988.
She previously worked in the cafeteria of the Winter St. School, always maintaining a balance between raising her family, her church, and career. During her retirement she volunteered her time at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, she performed with the Comedy Masque Review, was an active member of the Haverhill Women’s club, and enjoyed a friendly card game.
The widow of John F. Hurley, who died in 1993, she leaves two sons and their wives, Joseph P. and Terri Hurley, of Lyman, NH, James M. and Mary Ellen Hurley, of Kingston, NH, a daughter, Margaret Ann “Peg” Hurley, of Salisbury, two grandchildren, Christopher Hurley and Maeve Marie Hurley. She was predeceased by a son, John F. “Jack” Hurley Jr. in 1997 and her sister, Irene Coppinger in 2002.

Miss Demeritt was born in Haverhill on March 3, 1966, daughter of the late Gordon R. and Elaine C. (Perkins) Demeritt and lived here all of her life. She was a Graduate of Whittier Regional Vo-Tech Class of 1984 where she excelled in the Data Processing Department. She worked for Aulson Company of Methuen, MA for many years.
An accomplished equestrienne, Lynda’s favorite times were spent with her Morgan “Beau” (Winterhill Classic Command). During horse show season, weekends were spent riding at horse shows throughout New England. It was a dream come true for Lynda when Beau won a Grand National title at the 1993 National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City. She was always happiest in the saddle.
She leaves a brother and sister in law, Stephen J. and Judy Demeritt, of Londonderry, NH, a niece, Stephanie L. Demeritt, and a nephew, James F. Mr. Kimball worked all of his life in the construction industry as an independent contractor. He was employed by various companies in the Haverhill area including Al Crepeau Construction and Early and Son’s. More recently he was a partner in A & A Construction Co. retiring in the early 1990’s due to illness. He also managed the former Riverview Drive-in Theater in Haverhill. He was an avid race car fan who was involved with many local racing teams, his latest venture being with J.R. Baril Racing Team where he was known as “Rooster”. He was a member of the AMVETS post 147, Haverhill. He spent many days at Crescent Farms in Ward Hill with his friends and enjoyed going for rides and taking in the local scenery with his daughter and dog, Oreo.
He is survived by his son Robert E. Kimball Jr., and his fiancée, Gretchen Rothrock, of Salem, NH, two daughters, Stacy P. Sullivan, of Riverview, FL, Melissa L. and her husband Lorin J. Clark, his mother, Edith M. (Pickles) Kimball, a sister and brother in law, Eleanor J. and James A. Guyot, all of Haverhill, six grandchildren, Michael, Chelsea, and Andrea Kimball of Salem, NH, Alisandra “Lexi” Antonakis, Olivia and Haleigh Sullivan of Riverview, FL, aunt, Ruth Giarruso, of North Andover, and several cousins. He also leaves former wives, Kathleen S. Jackson, and Diana M. (Ricci) Nissen. His father, Lee Myron Kimball, died in 1985. His family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and care given to him by his many doctors and nurses over the years.

Haverhill- Barbara Jane (Lovett) Hilliard, 83, of Haverhill, and Melbuurne, FL, died January 18, 2008 at Penacook Place after a lengthy illness.
She was born in the Bradford section of Haverhill, daughter of the late George W. and Daisy M. (Fredette) Lovett and was a Graduate of Haverhill High School Class of 1942. She enlisted into the U.S. Navy and proudly served her country during WWII. After the war she continued her education at the McIntosh Business School. She was employed as a book keeper in the accounting department for the Borden Chemical Co. in North Andover, previously working for Exeter Co-Op Bank, Exeter, and McGregor-Smith Motor Sales, Haverhill, most recently she worked at the Haffners Gas Station in Lafayette Square for over fifteen years.
She loved traveling, upon retirement she sailed down the east coast and relocated to Melbourne, FL, where she stayed for ten years. Missing her family and New England roots she returned to Haverhill. She leaves three daughters, Kathleen Wasson, of Derry, NH, Karen L. Wright, of Dayton, OH, and Doreen R. Hilliard, of Haverhill, four grandchildren, Adele Wasson, John Wasson, Greg Hilliard, and Adam Wright, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Haverhill- Mary Faye (Horne) Knipe-78, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Knipe was born in Gloucester, daughter of the late, Archibald A. and Mary Grace (Sonia) Horne. She was a Graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1947 and attended Northern Essex Community College. In 1951she married the Robert W. Knipe Sr and moved to Haverhill to raise her beloved family. She was employed as an educational specialist for Lucent Technologies in North Andover, retiring in 1987.
The widow of Robert W. Knipe Sr., who died in 1983, she leaves a son, Robert W. Knipe Jr. and his wife Barbara, of Lancaster, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Robyn L. and Michael J. Verrette, of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Trevor W. Knipe, Victoria F. Knipe and Ryan M. Verrette, brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Carol Horne, David and Maryann Horne, and Frederick and Sandra Horne, all of Gloucester, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Donald, Richard, and a sister, Patricia Hale.

Haverhill- Carl A. Palmeter Jr. , 83 of Haverhill, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Palmeter was born in Haverhill, March 1, 1924 son of the late Carl A. Sr. and Margaret (Collins) Palmeter. He was a graduate of St. James Grammar School and St. James High School, Class of 1941. He attended Merrimack College and Boston University. He was a lifelong member of St. James Parish. During WWII Mr. Palmeter enlisted into the U.S. Army earning the rank of Sergeant in the Army Air Corp. Following WWII he became a proud member of the AMVETS organization where he held the office of treasurer both locally for AMVETS Post 147 and state wide treasurer’s office.
For many years he was employed as an accountant for the Gibbs Express Transportation Co. in Haverhill, retiring in 1984. He owned and operated a private accounting practice from his home for over sixty years serving people in the Haverhill area. He was an avid bowler and golfer, he enjoyed crosswords and a friendly game of cards. He so cherished being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his beloved family. He was known to have a great sense of humor and was appointed President of the Kent St. Porch Puppy Association, and member of the American Turtle Association.
He leaves his former wife, Antoinette C. (DeSesa) Palmeter, four daughters, Carina and her husband, Steven Jones, all of Haverhill, Jean Palmeter, of San Fransisco, CA, Theresa Palmeter, of Haverhill, and Susan Palmeter of Kingston, NH, a son and daughter in law, Patrick and Amy Palmeter, of Mission Hills, CA, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister and brother in law, Margaret and Fred Donahue, of Bellingham, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Ryan.
