      Lloyd Edward Hartwick, 81

Haverhill, MA

Haverhill – Lloyd Edward Hartwick, 81, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Harry and Jeanne (Gillespie) Hartwick. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and Haverhill High School. He left High school his junior year to enlist in the U.S. Navy. A WWII Veteran, he served aboard the USS Wisconsin and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Seamen Second Class.

In his early career, Mr. Hartwick was employed as a flooring contractor. He later became head of Maintenance at Mission Towers in Haverhill, retiring in 1995 after twenty years of service to the Bethany Community. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed dancing. He listened to classical music and was a car buff.

He leaves a son, Richard A. Hartwick, of Maine, two daughters, Joyce E. Schleif and her husband Mark, of Florida, and Jill A. Aube, of Maine, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a, son, Gary L. Hartwick, a daughter, Jeanne Hartwick, brother, Gordon, sister, Hazel, and longtime companion, Natalie Poole.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Saturday, January 16, at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill, from 3 until 5 PM.
