      Joan F. (McCormick) Babish-Brouillard, 68

HAVERHILL, MA

Joan F. (McCormick) Babish-Brouillard, 68, of Haverhill, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport after a lengthy illness.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Mildred (George) McCormick and lived here all of her life. She attended Haverhill public schools and Haverhill High School. Mrs. Brouillard was employed as a layout operator for the former Western Electric in North Andover.

She left Western Electric in the early 1980’s to raise her family along with twelve hundred foster children throughout the next fifteen years. In 2000 she was awarded a citation by then Governor Argeo Paul Cellucci for her service, dedication, and self sacrifice for being an outstanding foster mother in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help other families in need.

She leaves three daughters, Lorrie A. West and her partner Richard Beaudoin, of Haverhill, Debra Deneumoustier, and her partner Ted Spear, of Seabrook, NH, and Tammy Cruz, of Haverhill, a sister and brother in law, Mary and Jean Melanson, of Seabrook, nine grandchildren, Christie, Christopher, and Catrina Grandmaison, John Stachulski, Malo and Tiffany Cruz, Adriana Alamilla, and Ashley and Scott Simmons, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Brian S. Simmons.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7:00 PM.
