Joan
B. (Cook) Desando, 81, died Tuesday, August 22, 2007
at the Penacook Place Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She
was born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Joseph and
Beatrice (Montminy) Cook and lived in Plaistow through
her high school years. She was a graduate of Sanborn
Seminary High School Class of 1944. She married Dominic
Desando in 1948 and raised her family on 14th Ave., later
moving to Columbia Park., Haverhill. A homemaker first,
she was employed in the food service department at Whittier
Regional Vocational High School for many years.
The
widow of Dominic J. Desando, who died March 18, 2002,
she leaves her beloved family, two sons and daughters
in law, Eric C. and Pamela Desando, of Haverhill, Joseph
D. and Patricia Desando, of Newton, NH, a daughter and
son in law, Cynthia L. and Arthur Migliori, of Haverhill,
four cherished grandchildren, Luca, Maya, Dominic, and
Alicia, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her brothers, Eben and Joseph Cook.
The
family would like to express their gratitude for the
compassionate, loving care Mrs. Desando received from
the staff at Penacook Place during her residency there.
At
the request of Mrs. Desando, there are no calling hours.
Funeral services and burial are private. Arrangements
are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral
Home 486 Main St.(Rte 125) Haverhill. Memorial donations
may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s
Research, Church St. Station, P.O. Box 780 New York,
NY 10008-0780.
