       Evelyn B. (Shapiro) Spain, 87

HAVERHILL, MA

Evelyn B. (Shapiro) Spain, 87, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Oxford Manor after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Spain was born and educated in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Cohen) Shapiro. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1937. She was employed by the federal government as a key punch operator at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for many years.

The widow of James Z. Spain who died in 1999, she leaves her son, Frederick Spain, of Haverhill. Mrs. Spain was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Klaiman.

Graveside funeral services will be officiated by Rabbi Ira Korinow on Sunday morning, January 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Children of Israel Cemetery, Middle Road, Haverhill. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill.
